Diploma for Chartered Bankers (QCF) (Level 7)

Summary: 

 
The Diploma for The Chartered Banked is designed to give candidates a broad and balanced understanding and knowledge of the banking sector. It is aimed at anyone who is working within the banking sector who wants to gain a broad understanding of various parts of the sector; this qualification enhances job related skills by studying a wide range of subjects which are designed to enable candidates gain the knowledge and skills both for current practice and the rapidly changing environment of the industry.
 
A total number of 220 credits must be gained to achieve the qualification.
 
All honours graduates from a recognised university will be granted 3 non-specific subject exemptions regardless of their degree subject matter. In addition candidates can apply for one further subject exemption based on their degree from Section B. Other applications for exemption will be assessed on an individual basis by City College Norwich Qualifications

Structure summary: 

A total number of 220 credits must be gained to achieve the qualification, of which at least 120 credits must be at level 7.

The qualification consists of one mandatory 20 credit unit, Professionalism and Ethics, plus 10 other 20 credit units from different combinations of optional units. Candidates must take at least one unit from Optional group A and at least three units from Optional group B. Additional units can be taken from Optional group C or from any of the remaining units from Optional groups A and B.

Structure full: 

 A total number of 220 credits must be gained to achieve the qualification, of which at least 120 credits must be at level 7. 

  • A  -  Mandatory

            This group consists of one compulsory 20 credit unit. 

 

  • B – Optional

This group consists of three sub-groups. From sub-group A a minimum of 20 credits (one unit) must  be taken, from sub-group B a minimum of 60 credits (3 units). Candidates may choose to take the balance of units from either of these sub-groups or from units in sub-group C. A total of 200 credits must be taken from group B.

Group A - Core subjects
Candidates must take at least one 20 credit unit from this group of options

·          L/600/6784 – Business banking
·          K/600/6811 – Retail banking in England, Wales and Northern Ireland
 
Group B - Core subjects
Candidates must take a minimum of 60 credits from this section.
Credit Value required: Minimum 60.
 
·          Y/600/6786 – Business law
·          M/600/6793 – Financial economics
·          F/600/6796 – Financial management for bankers
·         R/600/6799 – Management strategy and leadership
 
Group C - Elective units
Candidates may take a number of these units which combined with the one mandatory 20 credit unit, plus the minimum 80 credits from the core subjects in A and B to complete the 220 credits required for achievement of the Diploma. Additional units may also be taken from the core subjects in A and B to help meet the credit requirements of the Diploma.
